What is our government mostly like?
Our government mainly consists of pluralism and elitism. Pluralism is a form of government where the public has a lot of sat in our government's decisions and actions. For example, the people vote for the president, house candidates, etc. This shows how the people get involved with who is put in government. The people can also protest and write letters to government officials wanting change. Whether or not these changes are put into affect is where elitism comes in. Elitism is the theory that power is given to those who are at the top of government. There are specific groups who are given this power: corporate leaders, top military officers, and a handful of key political leaders such as the president and vice president. These are the leaders who have a little bit more power than the public. They can reject suggestions and ideas from the public while also keeping the public's rights safe. In conclusion, our government has elitism in the higher branches of our government, but still manages to embed pluralism into it, giving the public a say in how our government is run.
