The theory that describes the U.S. today would be Marxism. Marxism is the theory that believes one elite group has power in the Untied States. Marxists believe that people who control the economic system essentially control the political system. In this situation, our secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, is actually the CEO of ExxonMobile. This is a perfect example of how he controls the economy because he is tied in with a lot America's economy because of his position of the big oil company. Tillerson also is on good grounds with Russia and Putin because he was awarded the Order of Friendship which put him with good relations with Russia and an oil company there. Now that Tillerson has a bigger say in government, his opinions and decisions may be leaning more towards what is going to be best for his company and making more money. Since he has the foreign policy under his eyes, he will most likely try to get on good terms with countries who can benefit his company and not countries that we may need in the future to help with other tasks. This is a perfect example of seeing Marxism in control of the U.S. today.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump announced that he had selected Rex Tillerson, chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, for secretary of State, one of the most influential Cabinet roles. If confirmed, Tillerson will be charged with leading the State Department and overseeing U.S. foreign policy. But who is this oil executive and what should you know before the confirmation hearing?

ExxonMobil

Tillerson has worked for Exxon since 1975. He started as a production engineer and moved up the ranks before becoming chairman and CEO in 2006. Tillerson has been conducting deals with countries all around the world. His experience negotiating with foreign governments — including governments hostile to the United States — was one of the reasons Trump selected him.
“The thing I like best about Rex Tillerson is that he has vast experience at dealing successfully with all types of foreign governments,” Trump tweeted after announcing Tillerson’s appointment.

Russia

Tillerson has strong ties with Russia. In 2013, the oil executive received Russia’s Order of Friendship award, which is given to foreign nationals who the Russian government believes have worked to better relations. (The Washington Postreports that the award has gone to a wide variety of Americans, including a pianist and basketball coach.) Tillerson received the honor after inking a deal with a Russian oil company. He has also been critical of U.S. economic sanctions against Russia.
