Elitism (Mills) In USA

The theory which best describes an American democracy is elitism/mills. C.Wright Mills theory on the power elite is dependent on the people of the U.S who have money and status. Only a few simple individuals within the government/political, military, and corporate realms actually held the majority of the power. So elitism is just a few big interest groups that have most of the power and runs government by preserving own interests.

    

President Trump is the CEO of his own business, therefore, he has full knowledge of how to run the country in a way an average American citizen cannot.  Which this means he is very dominant by making him an elite in the corporate position around 2015 when he created jobs alone.This action makes him a great person for united states because it benefits the economy. But also trump achieved multiple steps in the power elite by going from corporation to gov/becoming the president of the United States which made him really powerful but also showed a great example of elitism(Mills). 

Another main group leader is the military who defends the country and protects us all in any circumstance. "if members of armies gave them no more of their lives than do believers off to church to which they belong, there would be a military crisis" (mills,73). Imagine the U.S without a military it would've been a disaster but thank you to every soldier who protects the citizen for many years because you set an incredible example of elite power by having the power to do some things the soldiers wishes but also the ability to lead masses of people, strategic ways/plans and loyalty to the United States of creating a safe environment.

Some old examples of elitism are how Hillary Clinton went from the first lady to senator then secretary of states. Another example could be Mitt Romney how he went from the corporate world to governor and even as a presidential candidate. In conclusion, these three main groups help each other to create a better economy but also a better future of the US. Lastly, the power elite by C.Wright MIlls is the best way to explain the society how we live in today but also how $ money and status makes a person more dominant than an average citizen. 


Sadly elitism in U.S means the average American citizen has less power such as the picture shows above but also how the three main groups create jobs for the lower class. In general, the wealthy are getting richer but in a way opening up jobs to the rest so the cycle of the economy comes and goes.
