Mitt Romney Attacks President Trump Following Comment Trump Made On

Trump made a comment following the attack in Charlottesville, stating, "Both sides were to blame". Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney took to Facebook Friday morning, and in doing so crticized Donald Trump. "Whether he intended it or not, what he communicated caused racists to rejoice, minorities to weep and the vast heart of America to mourn, his apologies strain to explain that he didn't meaan what we heard. But what we heard is now the reality, and unless it is addressed by the president as such, with unprecedented candor and strength, there may commence an unraveling of fabric."

Mitt Romney also listed people that were apart of a minority and stated that they are part of America as much as whites and protestants, and also said that President Trumps actions has left America wondering what he'll do next. Romney also linked President Trump with David Duke and the KKK, and said that President Trump must repudiate David Duke and, "call for every American to banish racists and haters from any and every association". Essentially, Romney is stating that racism is an issue that we must face head-on.

Trump's comments after the tragedy that took place in Charlottesville did indeed provoke a response, especially given the nature of what he said. Mitt Romney has never been one to shy away from criticizing Trump, so this doesn't really come as a shock to most people. After all this is quite a  tragedy, it wasn't really something that people expected Trump to say. With all of this said, it stands to reason that Trump will respond to Mitt Romney, and confront him about the allegations that Romney made about Trump supporting the KKK. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/18/mitt-romney-denounce-trump-charlottesville-241780
