Just before President Trump began speaking on Tuesday, four different speakers talked about racism and tried to put Trump in a position where he did not come off as racist. However when Trump got onto stage he had a different plan. He didn't even attempt to stick to the plan the other four speakers carefully constructed. He began to talk about the size of the crowd and stated "there aren't too many people outside protesting," assuming the media would not focus on the size of his crowd, but rather the protesters outside. This type of speech stretched out for 75 minutes ranting about the media many times and giving a very lengthy defense to his response to the protests in Charlottesville. He also threatened to shut down the government if he does not receive funding for a wall dividing us from Mexico.
However as the speech continued many people lost interest quickly. Hundreds left before the speech had ended, and many others sat down and focused more on their smartphones than the speech itself. This shows how Trumps support has declined since the election, and Trump needs to realize this and bring his support back.
Questions:
Do you think more of Trumps speeches will have supporters losing interest like this one?
How can trump bring interest to his speeches so less people will leave?
Will less people begin to show up to Trumps speeches altogether?
