  1. I am mike santopietro. I like to snowboard and play various musical instruments including ukulele, guitar, bass and tuba. I plan on going to myrtle beach, South Carolina all summer. I am very interested in AP US Gov and Politics, but don't have a favorite president or politician.

  2. I'm Matt Ruegg. I like music and broadway and my life pretty much revolves around those things. I plan on volunteering at summer school, going to Rhode Island, and possibly auditioning at a theatre. I want to learn more about our government and how we ended up with the...controversial president we have now. I don't really have a favourite president or politician but I liked many things that happened under Obama's time in office.

  3. I'm Ashley Lodge, I like music and my favorite subjects in school are science and history. My hobbies are riding my bike and hanging out with my friends. One weird habit that I have is singing whenever i have a song stuck in my head. My summer vacation plans are going to the beach, going down to VA to see my family for my birthday, and just to hang out with my friends more. I am interested in AP Gov and Politics because Gov and politics really interest my especially when the presidential debates were going on i would always watch them and i would get into really funny debates with my mom about it. I don't really have a favorite president or politician.

  4. I'm Matt Zynda. I enjoy drawing and music. An odd habit of mine is using phrases or words in various foreign languages. I am interested in AP Gov because I enjoy learning and speaking about current events. I do not have a favourite president, but I can say it certainly is not the cheeto currently in office.

  5. I'm Taylor Dalton. I enjoy listening to music along with playing tennis and lacrosse. I also really love to travel and plan on visiting Washington, DC this summer due to my interest in politics and my plans to go to school there to receive higher education. I'm interested in this course because I plan on majoring in political science or foreign relations and hope to work with the United Nations or in the government. My favorite past president would be Barack Obama because of his attempt to improve health care in our country as well as his devotion to protecting the environment. My current favorite politician would be Jill Stein because I agree with her goals of achieving "Health Care, Jobs, and Education as Rights." During the 2016 campaign, I also closely followed Bernie Sanders and John Kasich and agreed with their stances on some, but not all, issues.

  6. I'm Emily Tricarico. I enjoy listening to music and reading. I also love to learn about science, history, and our world today. I'm interested in this course because I want to learn more about our government and how it works. My favorite president would George Washington because he helped build the foundation of our country. He freed us from England. If it were not for him, this country would not be what it is today.

  7. I'm Zachary Gaudiosi. I enjoy a lot of music and video games. I'm planning on going to a Kings of Leon concert in Mohegan Sun this summer. I'm interested in AP Government because I love to have heated debates about current events going on in politics. I do not have a favorite president or politician.

  8. I'm Sara Waddington. My hobbies include musical theater, singing, and performing in general. I'm very involved in our school's music department. I can't really think of any weird habits. Over the summer I'm volunteering for the summer school program and working almost everyday :). Something interesting about me that you will all come to know very well is that I'm a vegan. I chose to take ap gov this year because actually being knowledgeable about such a relevant topic can be helpful in ones everyday life. Also knowing what's going on in your country and knowing how that can effect your life is important to me, and I really wanted to have Mr. Balanda again. My favorite president would have to be Richard Nixon. Now hear me out... not the greatest guy, but his presidency was wild and I'm interested in learning more about him. Like seriously, how does one get themselves impeached. He was a pretty scandalous guy if you ask me. And finally my favorite politician at the moment is Elizabeth Esty for the sole reason that I rung her out at Marshalls once, and she was very nice to me. I don't know much about her, but I'm interested in finding out more.

  9. I'm Kyle Frappier. I enjoy playing baseball and riding dirtbikes. I plan on going to Florida this summer to visit my grandmother. I am interested in AP Gov and Politics because I want to learn how the government works and how the government runs. I do not have a favorite president or current politician.

  10. I'm Erika Korbusieski. I love to read and draw. I usually read a lot and draw sometimes. This summer I am going to volunteer at the Wolcott Summer Studies program, and in August go to Spain to see my moms side of the family. I am really looking forward to AP Gov because I am very interested in the government and politics. I do not have a favorite president or current politician

  11. I'm Norah Kader. I enjoy playing volleyball and listening to music. For the summer, I'm going to D.C. to visit my older brother as well as volunteering in the summer school program. I am interested in AP Gov and Politics because I want to learn more in depth about the way our government is structured. I don't have a favorite president or politician unfortunately.

  12. My name is Lauren Kazemekas if you didn't already know. I play soccer for Ajax premier & Wolcott and do track and field as well. In the summer I plan to go the beach a lot, and maybe go somewhere I have never been to. As for something interesting about myself, I am left handed. Also, I play the ukelele (but I am not very good). I'm interested in AP Gov because I like being involved in what's going on in the world, which connects to politics. In addition, I enjoy social studies in school and it is my favorite subject. My favorite president is the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Although none of us were alive during his presidency, I have learned many great things about what he accomplished. Not only did Lincoln lead the US through its civil war, but preserved the Union and led the way to the elimination of slavery. My favorite quote said by Abraham Lincoln is "The best way to predict the future is to create it". To conclude, my favorite current politician is Ben Carson. Many of you probably know who him from the past election, but if you didn't, he ran for the presidency along side Trump. I just remember watching the debates and saying he was my favorite until he wasn't running anymore. I don't know too much about Ben Carson except the fact that he went to Yale and became a neurosurgeon, and that is the current Secretary of Housing under the Trump Administration. And yes i did post this under the wrong page at first

  13. Hello, my name is Morgan Matyoka. I am a freshman going into sophmore yeaf. I enjoy athletics and participating in clubs. I am part of a student government. I joined Student Government mainly because I enjoy politics and sharing my opinion. I do have a weird habit of stating random facts (usually about things that don't matter).
I am interested in AP US Government and Politics mainly because of politics. It amazes me how people so alike can seem so different because of their political views. I like to know that everyone has an opinion and a voice even if some voices may seem more important that the other.
I have two favorite presidents. My favorite presidents are the 1st and 16th president of the United States. I seem to adore George Washington because he has a military background and for another obvious reason; he was the first president. Since I have thought about attending a military based college I find interest in characters who have served our country and felt that type of pride as well. I also adore Abraham Lincoln because he felt obligated to eliminate slavery. To me, his presidency shaped the way the United States is today. He didn't abolish racism or destroy inequality, but he pushed America into the right direction. His presidency along with George Washington's had left major impacts on America, what's not to adore!
I cannot say that I have a favorite politician because any person who is professionally involved in politics is someone who I look up to. I find value in everyone's opinions and since we are, for the most part, a democracy, one person's voices and opinions can make a difference, even if the change is small.

  14. Hi!!! My name is Samantha Ackers. I am a Junior going into my Senior year. My summer plans involve being a lifeguard and traveling. I will be in Florida and South Carolina for about 6 weeks. My interest in AP government all sparked up my Sophomore year when I first had Mr. Balanda. I LOVED everything about civics and I cant wait to learn more with my class. I also am excited to share my strong opinion here this summer and more in class next year! See you in period 6!

  15. Hi, my name is Sean Carichner, and im a soon to be sophomore. My hobbies include running, drawing, producing music, and math. A weird habit of mine is that I sometimes write a 5 in the place of an f. As a summer vacation I might go to California for a week, it should be fun. There isnt really much about me that is interesting but I can make some good pasta. I am interested in AP US Government and Politics to learn about the structure of the US government and to begin to recognize more careers or topics I might be interested in. My favorite US president would have to be Abraham Lincoln because he taught America that if we all came together, it would be a better place. Abraham worked hard to end slavery and aided the ending of the civil war. I do not have a favorite politician because I have not gotten too far into American politics yet, but I am very excited for the AP class next year so that I can learn more, and maybe have a favorite politican by the end of our year together.

  16. Hi, my name is Caitlin Frosolone. I enjoy listening to music and hanging out with my friends. One of my hobbies or favorite things to do is debate with my dad about politics; which sounds cheesy and dramatic but it basically happens every day. He is very conservative and I am very liberal so our conversations about politics are very interesting...This summer I am going down to Virginia to visit my grandparents (who practically live in the middle of nowhere). I am interested in AP US Government and Politics because politics is one of my favorite things to discuss and is something I'm very interested in. My favorite president would have to be Barack Obama, because I agree with him on his stances on civil liberties, reproductive rights, education, environment issues, and gun control. My favorite current politician would probably have to be Bernie Sanders. I followed him closely throughout the 2016 election and even went to one of his rallies in April 2016, which was a very good experience. I agree with most of his opinions, such as his stances on social issues and America's economic structure.

  17. Hi, my name is Kailyn Lawlor. I play basketball, manage football and softball. One of my weird habits is that I put ketchup on almost every type of food (lmao). This summer I am going on a cruise to the Bahamas and then going Universal when we dock. Something interesting about me is that (not to brag) but I am an exceptional cook/baker. I was interested in taking AP Gov , so I can understand what is going on in the political world, and I can stay up to date on all the crazy happenings in the world going on today. My favorite president would have to be Ronald Reagan because he made himself seem approachable and he was not as arrogant as other presidents. I don't have a favorite current politician because I have not really followed what has been going on since the election of Trump, but I look forward to learning more about the government and how everything works. I will see some of you in Period 2!! :)

  18. Hi, I am Brianna Shea. Some of my hobbies include Track and Field, listening to music and hanging out with my friends. One weird habit I have is dipping my french fries in hot sauce. This summer I plan on going to Myrtle Beach and going camping a lot. Something interesting about me is that I played softball for eight years. I am interested in AP Gov because I only know the basics of what is happening currently in the world, and I want to have a better understanding of it. I do not currently have a favorite president or politician, but I am anxious to learn more about our democracy. I will see some of you in period 4!

  19. Hello. My name's Ariana Nanfito, Ari for short. I enjoy my cat, my family, music, my boyfriend, but most importantly myself. That last part was just a joke. One interesting thing about me is I can put both my thumbs behind my hands. I joined this class because I do in fact enjoy politics as much as the next person. My family is very big on the topic and I'd love to join in on their extravagant conversations (more like heated arguments) at the dinner table. I don't have any favorite presidents or politicians but maybe I'll find that out next year who knows. I'm looking forward to this class, hopefully the work doesn't kill me! (That's another joke, please don't kick me out of the class for that comment).

  20. I'm Vincent Zheng. I enjoy playing video games with my friends and enjoy listening and playing music. Over the summer i plan to volunteer at the Wolcott Summer Studies Program and take a vacation to California. I'm interested in taking this course because I don't really know that much about our government and politics. I don't really follow politics, so I can't really say who's my favorite politician.

  21. Hi, I am Sarah Hatush. :) I like to listen to music and watch TV shows and movies. Over the summer I am going to be staying abroad in Libya with my family members and relatives. My favorite past president ( still president in my heart :'( ) is Barack Obama. Althought he had many ideas that had flaws when executed, I feel his heart had been in the right place with things like improving healthcare and trying to find other ways to improve the lives of minorities and and people of color. I'm interested in AP U.S. Gov because I plan to major in political science when going into college and im sure this course will only help to further improve my knowledge on politics.

  22. I am Dylan Senderoff. I like to play guitar and bass when I'm not spending my free time watching Netflix with my dog. I have a weird habit of touching almost anything in sight when I am in a car which usually, to my own amusement, annoys anyone else near me. This summer, I am going to South Carolina for 3 weeks and I also plan on doing my usual hobbies of sleeping, Netflix, and playing instruments while I struggle to avoid procrastinating my algebra II packet and the English novel. Something interesting about me is that I can move my thumb knuckle (on my right hand)in a pretty weird and indescribable direction. I used to be able to do it with my left hand too but I broke that thumb a few years ago voluntarily rolling down a hill eleven times and I haven't been able to do it since. I am interested in mostly the politics part of this course because it has been described to me as very argumentative and that sounds much more appealing than just a regular Civics class. This is also an AP class which I have been dying to take ever since I realized that it meant Advanced Placement (I used to think it stood for After Precedent (Like part 2 of a course)). My favorite president was Barack Obama because I grew up with him being my president. Until it was pointed out to me in 3rd grade, I was unaware that there was never an African-American president before him, and I have always respected his devotion to the country and his extreme respect toward Orange celebrities who assume they could run a country. My favorite politician is Bernie Sanders because he has been very clear with his ideas for the country and has stuck by his own thoughts without changing them for almost half a century. He is also trying to make improvements for many American citizens, not just the top percentage.

  23. Hey, I'm Grace Stearns and I love art, hiking, and people (unless I'm in a bad mood and they're making me angry). I don't have any weird habits, but as for hobbies, I spend most of my time worrying about what's happening to our world, or trying to numb myself to it (just kidding). Like I said, I like hiking, so I consider that a major hobby of mine, and that's probably what I'll be doing for the majority of the summer. I decided to take this class to further inform myself on the way our country works, and just how bad things are getting. As you'll quickly come to know, I'm very liberal, I'm vegan, and I'm a feminist (a feminist, not a misandrist). I care a lot about the environment and about the rights of people, and I'm excited to debate about these things. I don't have a favorite past president at the moment, but I know that I'm definitely not too crazy about our current one. My favorite politician would have to be Bernie Sanders. He cares so much about people and for their well-being. You can see the passion that he has for making the world a better place. He just wants the best; his intentions are pure.

  24. I'm Maya duPlessis. Some of my hobbies include swimming, crossfit, and yoga. One of my weird habits is eating mac and cheese with ketchup, and fries in wendy's frosties. Over the summer, I plan on going on a cruise and going to Canada. I am interested in taking this class because I do not know a lot about our government system and would love to learn about it so that I can form my own opinions. I do not currently have a favorite president, or politician, because I do not really follow politics right now.

  25. Hey all, I'm Amber Belval. I thoroughly enjoy watching The Office, listening to music (Blackbear's new album is fire & 11/10 recommend), and working at Wolcott View Manor (that's a lie). I am oddly good at bop-it, have an intense coffee addiction and can basically make a pun out of any situation (majority of the time I think they are hilarious and clever but no one else does ):). I've been interested in gov and politics since my sophomore year civics class and aside from wanting some college credit, I just want to further my knowledge of our country's system. One of my favorite past presidents is William Taft, for the sole reason that he got stuck in a White House bathtub during his presidency. Barack Obama has a special place in my heart too... and my cat just knocked lemonade all over my keyboard omg great... along with Bernie Sanders. They both are genuine individuals who have ideals that closely match with mine.

  26. Hello I am Griffin Morris, I didn't really feel like reading all of these but I tried. I like many things such as sparring, animals, and knowledge(they are broad for a reason). I plan on teaching summer school and going to Texas over the summer. Government I think will teach me how this government is setup and will give me an idea of what government is best. With Trump politics will be entertaining. Washington is my favorite politician because he was smart and won the election with no competition. Trump I like because it is easy to laugh at him and make jokes.

  27. Hey I'm Megan Hendrickson and I'm going to be a sophomore next fall. I've played volleyball for four years and I help out with stats for baseball and basketball. Something weird about me is that my pinky can't unbend.. I shaved my head last summer and donated all my hair to little kids with cancer and its still in the process of growing back. The reason why I wanted to take this class is because I personally like debates and arguing with people and politics is often a topic I don't know too much about. Since I never really payed attention to the news until this year because of Mr. Mac, I don't have a favorite president or politician being that I wouldn't have enough support as to why I think they are better. I hope I get alot out of this period 2 class :)

  28. Hi my name is Emily Muccino and I will be a sophmore this coming fall. I am involved in peer helpers and Winter and Spring track and field. Over the summer I have plans to go to South Carolina for three weeks and babysit my younger cousins. I am interested in taking this class because I do not know much about government or politics and feel that it is an important class to take in order to understand what is currently happening in the world. I currently do not have a favorite president or politician, but I look foward to taking this class next year and forming my own opinion on this topic.

  29. Hey i'm Marion Conley i'm going to be A senior next year. I love animals. The only thing that's getting me through life at the moment is my cat Prince Caspian. I HATE KETCHUP AND MAC AND CHEESE AND MILK. if any of these substances touch me i will freak out . I'm really quiet but i'll try to open up more throughout the year. i'm not doing anything too interesting this summer besides apparently a lot of AP US Government work...thanks Balanda. I'm a democrat for the most part. Trump sucks. i'm taking this class because i'm extremely interested in this kind of topic and would like to learn more about it. Although all this work seems scary not gonna lie. I've had Balanda as a teacher for 2 years so far, this will be my third and hes a pretty cool teacher.

  30. Hi everyone! My name is Melanie Reed and I will be attending the AP gov. class this upcoming fall as a sophomore. In school, I am a part of student government, excel club and peer helpers. I also participate in the school cheer team and outdoor track. Some of my hobbies are jumping on my trampoline, playing with my dog and editing videos. I want to take this class because I believe I should be more informed about our country and the way its government works. Also, I have always loved a heated debate. I have never had a favorite president but have always been a prime candidate for Bernie Sanders. I do not have a favorite politician but hope to occupy one as my time in AP Gov proceeds. Over my time in student government I have grown an interest in group discussions, voting and debates. I also have gotten to know Mr. Balanda and am looking forward to having him as my teacher next year.

  31. I'm Stephan Cho. I'm am a senior at Wolcott High School. My extracurricular activites consist of soccer, talking to others, and reading. 32. Hi, my name is Brooke Tracey and I am an upcoming sophomore. My biggest hobby is soccer, and I will be traveling to Chicago this summer to compete in nationals with my team. I'm interested in taking AP US Gov and Politics to become more aware of the decisions that politicians must make, and how they run our country. My favorite president is Abraham Lincoln because he fought endlessly to end slavery in the Unites States, and was also able to carry our country through the Civil War. I do not currently have a favorite politician, however, I do enjoy hearing the opinions of both Democrats and Republicans.

  33. I am Connor Holderbach and am an upcoming sophmore. I race and play basketball. Over the summer I plan to race, be with friends, and work to generate some extra cash flow. This summer I am going to NYC and Cedar Point in August. I am interested in AP US Government because it will help me understand how decisions are made for this country and will make me become a more active member of society in the near future. Donald Trump is my favorite president because he speaks his mind and is going to use his business background to help the country economically. However, I do not have a favorite politician. I look forward to taking this class.

  34. I am Adrian Morin and I am an upcoming sophomore. I like to play baseball in the spring and fall. I plan on hanging out with my friends this summer and going traveling to other states as well. I am interested in taking AP Gov because I find this topic very interesting and feel that I should know about these things even if I am not going to get a job in politics. I don't have a favorite president and have many mixed opinions about the current politicians so I don't really have a favorite.

  35. Hi, I am Daniel Podzunas. I like teaching myself new information through reading or videos. My weird habit is that I enjoy tinkering with or making things out of odd bits and pieces that I find lying around. I am interested in this class because I hear that it gets you college credits. My favorite president is FDR because if he served 4 consecutive terms that were only cut short by a burst blood vessel to his brain, he must have been doing something right. Plus, he served as president during time when few people would have liked to serve, the Great Depression and WWII. I do not have a favorite politicians, because most politicians in my opinion have major flaws, from being too indirect, to being too radical, or from being too concerned with feelings, not logic and fact, to the ones who will not change their minds no matter how bad their stance.

  37. Hello, my name is Madison Cossette and I will be taking AP Government and Politics my sophomore year. I run cross-country in the fall and do indoor and outdoor track. I am a member of Student Government, Peer Helpers, and Community Service club. One weird habit that I have is that I never put my hair up, even when I’m running. My plans for the summer are to go to Virginia to see Jamestown and Yorktown, and hopefully the National Archives too. I am also going to see Hamilton on Broadway in August. Something interesting about me is that I buy random historical artifacts on Ebay. For example, a couple days ago I bought a piece of Abraham Lincoln’s law office in Illinois. I am interested in AP Gov. and Politics because I enjoy learning about how our government works and I would like to gain a better understanding of what our country currently faces. My favorite president was John F. Kennedy because he was the youngest president to ever hold office. He proved that age does not matter when it comes to politics and government and that everyone deserves a chance to voice their opinions. He helped our country out of the Cold War, and without JFK, the moon landing never would have been possible. I do not currently have a favorite politician, but I enjoy learning about past politicians, like Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine.

  38. Hello everyone! I am Kathryn Rodrigues. I will be a sophomore this upcoming school year. In the fall, I run cross-country for the school. I made it to the State Opens last fall. In the winter, I run the mile and the two mile for the indoor track team. I went to the state meet this past winter. In the spring, I play doubles with my twin sister on the tennis team. I am also a part of Peer Helpers, the SASA group for the CASA coalition, and student government. A weird thing that I collect are cactus plants. I have four of them lined up on my window sill. I love them. Over the summer, I am volunteering at the Wolcott Summer Studies Program. I am also going to see the musical, Hamilton, on Broadway in August. I know all of the songs to the play, and I am very excited to see the show.
I am interested in AP US Government and Politics because I watch the news a lot and would like to gain a deeper understanding of how the government works. I would also like to learn more about each party so that when I am eighteen, I will be able to align myself to a political party based on an informed choice. I loved going to all of the monuments on my D.C trip in the eighth grade. I would like to learn more about the presidents that they are made after, and the changes those leaders made in our nation. I am very interested in national history and would like to learn more about the foundation of our country's government.
My favorite president is George Washington because he helped separate the colonies from England’s rule. Without him, the United States may have not been formed. His strong leadership helped us gain freedom and a democracy. I do not have a favorite politician, however I admire how Ben Carson is a neurosurgeon and picks his words carefully. He sounds very pulled-together, and I admire his intelligence. Although I do not know his true political opinions (besides the fact that he is a Republican), I would be interested in learning about them as well as the opinions of other leaders. Hopefully by the end of this course, I will be able to decide on a favorite politician.

  39. Hello! My name is Keri Rodrigues. I’m going to be a sophomore next year and I am really excited to take this class. I am involved in many activities in school such as Community Service Club, Peer Helpers, and CASA. I also do after-school activities; indoor track in the winter and tennis in the spring. This past season, Kathryn (my doubles partner, no pun intended) and I made it to NVLs for tennis. I had so much fun. During the summer, I am going to New York to see the musical, Hamilton ( I can’t wait!).

I am interested in AP Government and Politics because I would like to learn more about how our government is run and discover my own political views. I would also like to really understand what is being said when my family talks about politics. I do not have a favorite president. I was only able to watch some of the debates for this past election, but based off what I saw my favorite politician is Ben Carson. I don't know much about him politically, but I know he was a neurosurgeon and an author. In order to do those jobs, one must be very patient. I believe that this quality is very important when picking a leader because the decisions made by a president must be thought out and not made haphazardly. Although his peaceful demeanor didn't stand a chance among the other candidates on the presidential stage, I feel that he would have been a fair and just president.

  40. Hello! My name is Sadie Scanlon. During my free time I enjoy riding quads and snowboarding. I also love working with animals. I plan to spend most of my summer in Maine. 41. I'm Adela Gjoza. My hobbies include sleep. That's all. I can speak Albanian. I'm staying inside as much as possible for summer vacation. I want to be in AP government because I find current issues/politics and debating more interesting than history. I like Obama. The reason why is because he was never investigated for obstruction of justice. I relatively enjoy when my president isn't a criminal.

  42. Hi my name is Riley Martin and I am an upcoming sophomore. My hobbies include musical theatre/singing, listening to music (mostly old music), playing musical instruments, following current events, analyzing art/historical documents, writing, having civil political conversations, and ranting. My summer will consist of summer assignments, hanging out with friends and family, going to Florida for two weeks, and writing. An interesting fact about me is that I'm a very liberal vegan and I love tea. I am interested in this course because I have always followed current events, politics, and the way our government works since a young age and I have always just leaned towards history and politics as things I find intriguing more than science and other subjects. I also want to take this course because I have paid attention to the subject matters of politics and government for a good part of my life, so I know quite a bit about them and I would like to learn more so I can develop a better understanding of politics and government, more well developed and detailed political opinions, and to help me research possible career choices. I have two favorite past presidents, Franklin Delano Roosevelt because he stepped in and helped our country during WW2 and the Great Depression and he brought our country closer together during a hard time in history. My other favorite past president is a very recent president, Barrack Obama, because he was the first African American president, which shows a little bit of diversity in our extremely corrupt government. He also just truly cares about people, their health and the environment. My favorite politician is Bernie Sanders because of his political views and how he stuck/sticks with them, especially during the 2016 election.

  43. Hello I'm Kirsten Morin.I enjoy listening and playing music, and learning languages.I'm not going on any major trip this summer, but I am visiting Boston and New York a few times. I'm interested in this class because I hope to gain a better understanding of how our government works. My favorite president was probably Obama but I really can't say for sure. I hope I can learn more about modern issues and the most important politicians shaping our country today.

  44. Hello, my name is Melissa Zembrzuski. I am a freshmen going into sophomore year. I enjoy playing volleyball and softball. I also enjoy going to the beach and drawing. A weird habit I have is that I tend to check over my work at least three times before handing it in. Some vacations plans I have this summer are going to Ocean City, Maryland, Rhode Island and Lake Compounce with friends. Something interesting about me is that I enjoy reading mystery and horror novels in my free time. I am interested in taking AP US Government and Politics because I would like to learn more about the government and law system. Also, I want to create my own political opinion and comprehend the political changes in the world. My favorite president would have to be the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln because he accomplished many great things during his presidency. Although I was not alive during his ruling, I admire the fact that he led the United States through its civil war but did even more by leading the way to eliminate slavery. I do not have a favorite current politician but by the end of this school year, I hope to have one! I also hope to attain knowledge about other politicians and current events throughout the school year!

  45. Hello, my name is Shannon Burby and I am an upcoming sophomore. Some of my hobbies are volleyball, basketball, and track. In mid July I am going to Arizona to visit some family but besides that my summer is unplanned and open for whatever. I am interested in taking AP US Government because I would like to inform myself on what is going on in the word. My family is very intrigued about the government and always talking about politics but I am never able to take part of the conversation because I have a weak understanding of the topic. I hope that this class will strengthen my understanding of our government and political system. I currently do not have a favorite president or politician because I am not really familiar with all of them but by the end of the year I believe I will have a favorite.

  46. Hi, my name is Leah Coelho. I am an incoming sophomore. My hobbies include listening to music, attempting to create music, singing and doing whatever to make the day go by faster. I tend to walk in circles when I'm bored...which I usually am. This summer, I plan to go to my basement and clear out a lot of old stuff with my brothers. What a vacation. I don't know how interesting this fact is, but I first started as the cashier of my family's store when I was about 9 years old. I signed up for AP US Gov because I want to have a better understanding of the government today and keep up with what politicians are saying. This is so I'm not ignorant when it comes time for me to vote in my first election. I don't exactly have a favorite president or politician, but maybe I will by the end of the school year, who knows.

  47. Hi my name is Julia Hynek and I am going to be a sophomore this school year. I enjoy snowboarding, photography, and volleyball. Something that people usually notice about me is that I always have to have everything organized. This includes color coding notes, folders, and notebooks, and I am not one of those people who can scribble anything I write because it always has to be neat. To be honest, sometimes it comes to the point where I might be a bit obsessive (whoops). I was also born in Poland and can speak the language fluently. This summer I am leaving for 3 weeks to visit major places in the western United States (national parks, famous landmarks, cities, and such). As I take AP government, I hope to finally understand the world of politics and the government. Since this is a huge part of our lives, I think it would be very beneficial to take a course explaining the works of our political system and seeing how it currently affects us. Because I have never had much of an interest in government or politics, I therefore do not have a favorite president or politician.

  48. Hi, my name is Collin Casey and I'm going into my sophomore year. I enjoy baseball, football, pretty much all sports for that matter and my favorite vacation spot is California. Something interesting about me is that i am VERY organized. I like that feeling of knowing where everything is, it makes my life so much easier because I am constantly moving. I write in completely straight lines and if one of them is crooked, I have to erase it and rewrite it. I am very interested in AP Gov because I want to know more about what's going on in the World and why It's all happening, and how our government is formed and ran. This class will also guide me in the future because I will have better understandings and be able to form more factual-based opinions.

This summer i have plans to go to vermont, spend time with friends and family, and practice volleyball. Something interesting about me is that I can be very outgoing, but also very shy at times. 52. Hi, my name is Jillian Rosselot but I prefer to be addressed by Jill. I'll be going into my sophomore year. I enjoy roller skating, watching shows, animals, and theater. I happen to be listening to the Hamilton soundtrack as I type this. I participate in the WHS Drama Club and was lucky enough to get the role as Jordan in the Great Gatsby for the One Act Festival last fall. A weird habit of mine is that I always need to have my lip balm with me and I panic if I misplace it or leave it at home, although that is rare. This summer, like every past summer, I'll be going to Rhode Island for a week. Other than that, I'll be dragging myself through this weather and procrasinating my summer assignments. I don't find myself to be an interesting person so I can't think of anything that would be fascinating. I'm interested in AP Gov because not only did it seem like the best decision, but because I've always been interested in the state of our world and what our leaders are doing to help it. My favorite president would obviously be Barack Obama because he is a person of color like me. I may not look the part, but I'm Hispanic (Puerto Rican). My favorite politician is Bernie Sanders because of how supportive he is to the LGBTQ+ and colored community. In my opinion, he was the best option during the Presidental Race.

  53. Hello, my name is Michael Evans and I am going into my sophomore year. I love to run every season that it takes place. I also love to go outside and get fresh air anytime I can. My summer plans include going to lake compounce, because I have a season pass, and will be going to Cape Cod for a week this July. A weird fact about me is that I listen to Nicki Minaj a lot. This year I am willing to work to the best of my ability and hopefully make some new friends because I don't believe in fake drama. I don't follow along with politics much so I don't have a favorite politician. This is one of the reasons why I am excited to take this class so I can get more interested and involved in political conversations. I hope everyone has a great summer and I am looking forward to the new school year.

  55. Hi, my name is Zachary O'Meara, and I am an an upcoming junior transferring to the Wolcott school district. My hobbies include video gaming, computer programming, watching YouTube, and researching anything that I'm interested in. I am quite busy this summer, between moving to Wolcott and other plans, including a two-week programming course at MIT. I have long been fascinated with the American political system, and I enjoy discussing and debating politics, to the point that I took part in a political discussion club at my previous school. AP US Government and Politics is a great way for me to expand my understanding of the American political system and the intricacies of current political topics. I do not have a favorite President or current politician in particular, especially in the polarized political climate in recent years, as my political views generally either overlap with or fall somewhere in between the two major parties in this country.
