The United States has been fighting in Afghanistan for over 16 years, and hasn't shown any signs of victory or improvement. But recently, Donald Trump has stated that he has "big ideas" on a new strategy for fighting this war. Ideas that can "bring the U.S. to victory." This has been in the works for a while, but the details were said to finally be released in mid-july. Senator John McCain says,
"It just takes time. This is hard work, so you've got to get it right." But, no details were released as mid-july passed. Though, the U.S. has been talking to Pakistani officials in hopes of recieving aid in fighting the war. Therefore, there is a possibility then this long-lasting conflict could come to a close soon, which would definitely better our country stability even the slightest.
Discussion question:
Do you think the war in Afghanistan should be one of Trump's main focuses? If so, what other issues should he be focused on?
